Artesia High School is seeking a Color Guard Coach to assist with training and selection of the 2026 Color Guard.
This position will work directly with the band directors to:
- Lead pre-audition training clinics beginning as soon as possible within the next several weeks
- Help prepare students for auditions
- Teach foundational movement and flag technique
- Support development of performance quality and team culture
- Use proper dance and color guard terminology during instruction
The selected coach will be expected to assist with basic choreography for stand tunes.
Choreography for the 2026 marching show will be provided by an outside designer, and the coach’s role will be to teach and reinforce that material with students.
Important Schedule Commitments:
Candidates should be available for:
- Pre-audition training clinics beginning within the next few weeks
- Band Camp (weekdays): July 27 – August 7
- Zero Hour rehearsals at 7:00 a.m. during the school year (preference given to candidates consistently available in the mornings)
- Monday evening rehearsals (5:00–8:00 p.m.)
- Additional rehearsals or clinic days when guest clinicians are present
- Travel with the band to marching competitions
- Travel to and from away football games
- Attendance at home football games
We are especially interested in candidates who:
- Have experience in dance, marching band, color guard, or winter guard
- Are comfortable teaching basic equipment technique
- Are coachable, collaborative, and dependable
- Are interested in helping grow a developing program
- Are willing to learn and implement modern guard techniques

$59 BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIRED UNLESS ALREADY ON FILE WITH THE DISTRICT.
INCREMENT: $3,056 Minimum
